SVN: Several files not checking into Subversion repository

I have a number of files that don't check into the Subversion repository.  When I try to commit, they don't show up in the list to check in.  List is empty, but the outgoing tab shows e.g. 18 not checked in.  Any idea how to resolve this?  Thanks in advance.
