svc messages on reboot system goes in maintanence mode help!!
807559Jun 1 2006 — edited Jun 24 2006Hello I posted this on installation forum as well however I think it is better to put it here since I am trying to install Solaris on x64/x86 platform. My system is :
Acer Aspire E360 ->CPU AMD 3800+ 2,5Gb of RAM
Video card ->ATI Radeon X600SE, 256MB,
Hard SATA 3Gb/s 250 Seagate Baracuda
OK I downloaded Solaris 01/06 DVD. With that I had two issues. First it was hanging in "confifuring devices" screen however not always (I played with it a little but did not do anything specific). When I passed through this hanging problem The installation was going well no error messages (at least I did not see) and when system reboots first time I get this :
svc:/system/boot-archive:default: Method '/lib/svc/method/boot-archive failed with exit status 1 (see svcs -x for detailes)
Console login service(s) cannot run
(in fact I see thre or four lines of similar massages)
Then it prompts me for root password.
When I enter it it says
-sh: /bin/i386 not found
-sh: /bin/cat: not found
-sh: /bin/mail: not found
The root file system is not mounted.
OK I desided then to go with Solaris Express and after I downloaded the CD from the sun's site. I tryed to install it. No more hungiing problem however when system boots I again get into this svc messages I described above. I booted in failsafe mode mounted all the partitions to /a and try to look for any kind of log -> I could not find anything specific.
Need your help and sudgestions. What am I missing here ? I never had a case when system does not want to boot after fresh install.
I really apriciate yor help....
Thanks
