We currently use Microsoft Visual C++ 6 to compile our C++ applications (which utilize Pro*C/C++ for Oracle 11g) for Windows environments. I am investigating lower-cost alternatives to Visual C++, such as gcc.
In this thread (
9028886 gdarling mentioned that "GCC is not a supported compiler for Pro*C on Windows. There's a note number on My Oracle Support that tells you what is supported if you search MOS for "certified compilers."
I don't have access to my organization's My Oracle Support account. (Our DBAs work in a separate department, and my attempts to obtain the logon for our MOS account have been less than successful.) As a result I don't know which C++ compilers are certified for use with Oracle 11g Pro*C/C++ for Windows. (I wish this information were available in the Programmer's Guide.)
Would anyone be willing to share this information? And would anyone recommend any lower-cost (preferably free) C++ compilers for Windows which are certified?
Thanks,
CPM
