My company is working on it's strategy to start deploying/migrating out to an 8 release of a RHEL binary distro and OEL is the in the running
Also with that is exploring switching our RHEL6/7 instances to their OEL counterparts in efforts to save a little $$$ year over year as work to migrate these to 8 gets underway. we have heard OEL support subs can come in a bit cheaper than RHEL?).
I know there are tiers of support, with the two 10 year being basic and premier and those costs seem very up front. From there you go to Extended support, which is Premier + 10% for the first year, then 2 and 3 is Premier + 20%.
That would get us 13 years of support before it moves to Lifetime Sustaining Support. Once it hits here, how does that cost look? Is it just that Premier sub +20% in years 14+ or is there another cost on top (I can't see them NOT charging LSS for it since RHEL charges for ELS)
At the end of the day I'm comparing this to ELS in which that RHEL add-on is the only way to get to get security patches for once they are EOL and I assume this is what LSS is for OEL (please correct me if I'm wrong).
