Sun Video Plus PCI on Solaris 9?
Hi!
I have a Blade 100 here, with Solaris 9 installed. I have a firewire camera attached, no problem, it works great with Sun Forum.
However, I want to use the machine to import analog videos into mpg. We have a Sun Video PCI installed, and I have a CD with the software for this, Sun Video Plus version 1.3. In fact, I only need something capturing audio an dvideo and writing it in mpg-format to disk. This software is for Solaris 5, 6 and 7...
I heard in some newsgroups, that it is possible to use the software with later versions of Solaris. But I never found some real documentation or Howto on this topic. Do I have to install just the unVideoPlus-Software, as the drivers and the xil come with Solaris 9 (I see a 1.4-version in admintool) ? And do I have to set any environment variables, or is this done by the package installation? If yes, wher (in which files) does it set these variables?
And, last not least, is there any free software to simply capture from video and audio input? As the bundled software just supports very asic formats, I wonder if I shouldn't use software for compression, e.g. ffmpeg, but I still need something like a dv-file ;-)
Thank You, CU, Lars.
