Sun Ultra 40 does not power on

Maxime G.Oct 10 2017 — edited Mar 30 2019

Hi,

I have a problem with my Sun Ultra 40 workstation. It used to work great, except that the USB ports on the front panel did not respond. So I opened the workstation to see if some cable had got loose. There was nothing special to be seen inside, but after closing it back it refuses to power on. The only sign of activity is the green LED blinking on the motherboard (the one with "PWR" mark next to it). Is this LED supposed to be permanently on when the motherboard receives sufficient power (either when system in ON or OFF)?

Since parts are getting rare and expensive, I would like to avoid buying some just to try: is there an easy way to test the power supply unit?

Thank you,

Maxime
