Sun Ultra 20 M2 Fan Noise (buzzing sound)

Just wanted to know if anyone has the same problem with their Ultra 20 M2 (config. 3) I have re. a very annoying buzzing sound that starts when the case fan exceeds 1000 RPM. It's not a very loud noise but in a quiet room is extremely annoying because it cycles up and down in pitch. I have this box in an upstairs office that has ambient temps in the range of 75-78 deg's F. The system is noticeably quieter if I run move it to a room where the temps stay below 72 deg's F. However, the air coming out the back does not feel very hot so I'm wondering why the fans need to speed up like they do.
I did a BIOS upgrade but that didn't fix the problem. I also filed a service report with Sun and had one of their techs. look at the system. The only thing we could come up with was to replace the case fan. Unfortunately, the new fan Sun sent me was louder than the old one.
So, has anyone had the same or similar problem and what did they do to fix it. Cranking the AC up to cool the upstairs room down is not a viable option. Has anyone tried a different PWM fan that the SMC one that Sun uses. I'm also considering a non-PWM fan but don't know if they will work. Any suggestions. It's disappointing that Sun would ship a system with what I consider lousy/cheap fans and not as quiet as I hoped it would be based on comments/reviews I read before i purchased the system.
Thanks.
