Sun Fire X2250 Quad Gigabit Ethernet Question
807557Dec 10 2008 — edited Dec 13 2008Hey everyone,
Just received a new Sun Fire X2250 Intel Quad-Core - what a great server so far! - running ESXi and slowly building VMs on it...
Since I would like to run 3-4 separate virtual servers on the machine I believe that it's time for a Quad Gigabit NIC.
I know a few things: Sun make these cards and from what I hear they're great. Intel also make and sell the cards, albeit a little cheaper.
Looking at the Sun site, what's the difference between the X4446A-z and the X4447A-z?
Intel cards are also $200 cheaper - any comments/suggestions on using those (comparisons to Sun NIC's, etc.?) And some suggestions/tips from users using Quad Port Gigabit cards would be great as well!
Thanks in advance for your help!

BTW: There's a great deal on eBay for a new Sun Quad NIC model number: X4447A-Z ---> Will this card work with an X2250 (Quad Core Intel) ? ? ?
