Sudden conflicts in 99user.ldif

807573Jan 30 2007 — edited Jan 31 2007
One of my LDAP servers (5.2 patch 4) suddenly started complaining about entries in 99user.ldif being duplicates. This appears to have been happening for at least a week, but no problems were observed until last night, when slapd crashed - it is now unable to restart due to these conflicts. It's replication partner is using the exact same 99user.ldif file, and having no issues (and logging no conflicts, even though I can find these conflicts in the ldif files). 99user.ldif has not been changed since 12/18/06.

It appears that entries in 99user.ldif are duplicated in other ldif files in the schema/config directory.

Here are some examples of some of the duplicates (most by name, but at least one by OID)
- automount
- nisMap
- inetSubscriber
- nsAdminDomain
- nsHost

And there are more still ongoing.

How is this possible? How could this server have ever started up with these conflicts? Why would these just suddenly start logging to the error log?

I'm quite confused/concerned here, so any help would be appreciated...
