Success message not displaying when using a Branch to URL

Environment: APEX 3.1.1.00.09

I have a Branch to URL that takes the user to a different page in the application. I have checked the box marked 'include process success message' and put my success message in the process that sets the page number passed to the Branch to URL but the message does not appear.

Do I need to put the success message in a different place?

How can I get the success message to appear when the new page is rendered?
