substring_index, prefix index incremental build
651348Jul 22 2008 — edited Jul 22 2008We have a 1.4 M row 10.2.0.3 database. Complaints concerning wildcard searches are common. The obvious solution is to build substring and prefix indexes. However, when implementing this the index build was killed after 8 days, and was still not complete.
Is there a way to build the indexes incrementally in the background? Or, is our customer going to have to eat the time? Once built, would syncing the indexes take an equal amount of time?
