Substitution Variables in Formula Column in Planning Data Form

Hello,

I have a question regarding the use of substitution variables in Formula Column/Row on the Data Forms. Can we use substitution variables in Formula Columns and expect them to update automatically like the way it happens in Calculation Scripts/Business Rules?

Also, are Formula Row/Columns restricted to the functions that are there in the Formula toolbar or you can extend and use other functions too??
