Subscription report is blank

I'm using apex 5.1.1. I have set up a subscription on a report, but the email attachment is showing blank report with Interactive report search box as below. However, the same report with download and email option sends the correct report.

are there any specific settigns needed for the subscriptions? any ideas, thanks.
