Study for DBA Oracle 9i Vs Oracle 11g

Hi evreybody, I'd like to ask you about some...
I begin to study for Oracle DBA Jr and in the coures we see Oracle 9i, and in my home I'd like to install some Oracle Db por get practice and really don't know if install Oracle 9i or you recomend me to install Oracle 11g, I really don't know the difrence so I ask you to give me some advise about. Ahhh other question. I think its really better to stady to use Oracle in Unix platafor, like Solaris or something like red hat. I'll be very thanksfull you can advise me about this too.
Ahh by the way perhaps is better to get some VmWare Oracle por practice without installing real software??
