streaming mpg and avi video on web application

Hi,

I am working on a social networking application. In this the users can upload videos in different formats like mpg, avi,..... likethat.
Now i want to play those videos on the web. i dont have much exp on streaming these type videos. can you plese help me in resolving this issue.
