Strategy for "backup as copy archivelog"
Hello Everyone,
Can someone share with us your thoughts and ideas as to the practice for doing "backup as copy archivelog"?
I recently joined a DBA team, and found that they routinely do an hourly backup (cron job) of archivelogs to a disk like /dump, in addition to the daily database hot backup with "backup database plus archivelog;" The hourly archivelog backup filled up the disk space (about 300GB) so quickly that we have to do manual cleanups. Below is the script used for the hourly archivelog backup:
backup as copy archivelog from time 'sysdate - 2/24' format '/dump/rman/archivelog/arch_%d_%t_%e_%s.arc';
Do other sites routinely do such image copy of archivelogs? Any comments?
Thanks!!!
