Strange problem.

While querying, I come across with following errors, which seems to be rather strange.I would really appriciate, if someone could explain this behaviour.
SQL> desc dba_blockers
SP2-0749: Cannot resolve circular path of synonym "dba_blockers"
SQL> select * from dba_blockers ;
select * from dba_blockers
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01775: looping chain of synonyms
