STATS collection on a Table

536952May 18 2008 — edited May 20 2008
Hi,
I am facing a slow performance in inserting into aTable and think that Table Statistcs could be a issue.

I am having a huge table having 300 Million records. Sunday through Friday this table is Truncated and loaded with fresh data. The insert takes close to 12 Hours everyday. The data is loaded from a remote database over a link. After insert takes place the table is not Analyzed.

My question is should I Analyze this Table once in a week on Saturday.

The reason why I am not Analyzing this table once in a week is because everyday this table is truncated and loaded so I do not see a point in Analyzing it once in a week. I cannot Analyze this table everyday because it is huge and will affect the Production Timings.

The only problem over here is slow response in Inserting data into a table and i wonder if Stats play a key role over here provided the Table is Truncated everday.

So to make a quick insert into a Table is it necessary that the Table should have good STATS on it?

Your advice and a quick response would be higly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards
