Statistics after moving partitions

562238Apr 1 2009 — edited Apr 1 2009
Hi,

I'm working on Oracle 10g 10.2.0.2, on a HP machine.
I'm going to shrink some partitions of a big table and its related local indexes.
This table it's pretty big, around 2 billion records.
For shrinking the segments I chose to move the table partitions on the same tablespace

(ALTER TABLE blabla move partition blabla parallel 32)

All the partitions are using the same big datafile. I'm doing this operation offline, I mean the business will be halted.
I'll rebuild the index partitions as well.

After the job is done, I'm going to recalculate the statistics.
Is this step mandatory or I can export the statistics before starting the shrinking and importing again after having completed the shrinking (the move)?

Thanks in advance
Max
