Stack And Heap Memory

Hi,

Just a quick question...

Where in memory is the stack and heap located. I read somewhere that the stack is quicker to access than the heap, is it quicker in software or hardware. If hardware the stack must be stored in something faster than where the heap is stored (main memory)... CPU Cache??
