SSL certificate on site - Verisign "not trusted" ?

843802Aug 8 2003 — edited Aug 20 2003

We have a jar that's running from an SSL (https://) site, that has a cerificate from Verisign.

The problem is that when the jar is run (through Java Web Start), the users are prompted with a message saying something like;

"Do you want to accept the certificate (...)

Publisher authenticity verified by: Verisign Trust Network

- The security ceritifcate was issued by a company that is not trusted"

.. what does this mean? Isn't Verisign a trusted company?
