ß and quicksearch

Erwin SnippertOct 7 2013 — edited Oct 11 2013

JHeadstart version 10.1.3.3.81, JDeveloper 10.1.3.4

A quick search with a 'ß'sign with case insensitive enabled does not find uppercase names with a 'ß' character.

This seems to be a javal issue(locale). I had a similar problem by saving surnames, in our application a surname is saved in uppercase. An uppercase of a 'ß' changes to 'SS' in Java. I have implemented a work-around for this issue: translate a 'ß'to a '\u9999' before the uppercase and tranlate it back to 'ß' after the uppercase. It seems like the JhsSearchBean has this issue too in the search construct, how can this be solved?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Erwin
