sqlplus -prelim command is not working.

Hi ,

sqlplus -prelim command is not working for me. It is giving me the below error.

oracle@xyz: /app/oracle/product/10.2.0/bin $*sqlplus -prelim*

SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Fri Aug 7 10:31:54 2009

Copyright (c) 1982, 2006, Oracle. All Rights Reserved.

Enter user-name: oracle
Enter password:
ERROR:
ORA-24300: bad value for mode.

I am solaris 5.10 and database is 10g.
