sqlplus colsep tab

Hi,

have 11.2.0.3

have sqlplus script with set colsep ' '

However, when look at resulting file has several tab characters after each column even though sql is select trim(cola), trim(colb)... etc.

Want to produce tab-delimited text file

Trying other colsep e.g colsep '|' and looks like putting lots of extra spaces at end of column despite fact trimmed also tried ldtrim(rtrim) - not sure why this is - any thoughts?

Diodn't want to have to select and put concatenation character between each column in select.

Any reason wht multiple tab characters and hwo can we ensure only 1 tab between each column.
