sqlnet.authentication_services

550749Jul 1 2008 — edited Jan 8 2010
Hello,

I have problems with sqlnet.authentication_services setting.
When it is set to 'none' it means the database authenticates a user using login and password.
To make database authenticate users (for example dbas) by OS, we set it to (NTS).
If there's no 'sqlnet.authentication_services' line in sqlnet.ora on Linux, what is its default value? I thought it's NONE, but if it was NONE, the OS wouldn't be able to authenticate users and it does. What is the default value?

If sqlnet.authentication_services is set to NONE, and REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE=NONE, does it mean we're not able to connect to the database as sysdba?

Thanks in advance
Aliq
