sqldeveloper slow compare to sqlplus (use-case : select 1 from dual)

Hello community,

I'm facing a kind of slowness at the level of sqldeveloper for every sql I execute and it's a bit annoying.

My current settings is sqlDeveloper 18.4.0.376 build 376.1900 using jdk1.8.0_121 32bits

When I execute "select 1 from dual", sqlDeveloper states the execution took 0.009s but it looks like it took about .5s to 1s before the query is executed.

If I execute the same query on sqlplus, the output is immediate.

Can you help me resolve this?
