A couple of weeks ago I tried to use SQLcl 25.3 with InstantClient 23.26, discovered the mismatched libocijdbc versions, and downgraded the Instant client to 23.7.
[oracle@lmyhost ]$ sql -thick /@MY_ALIAS
SQLcl: Release 25.3 Production on Sat Dec 13 14:39:35 2025
Connection failed

URL = jdbc:oracle:oci8:@MY_ALIAS
Error Message = Incompatible version of libocijdbc[Jdbc:23702501, Jdbc-OCI:2326000]
Is there a way to confirm whether thick connections with a new version of SQLcl are compatible with a particular Instant Client without installing both and trying it?
Will SQLcl 25.4 thick connections work with Instant Client 23.26?
