sql substring functionality

532673Oct 4 2006 — edited Oct 4 2006
Hi all,

I am facing a substring problem, which I feel should be possible, but I just don't know how....

In a view I have the folowing -simplified- examples:

num=123
num=4993
num=45 609979
num=5996+4067
num=6943034%dkr
num=50ktr

I need to substring from the first position after the 'num=' to the first not numerical character, hence my result set shoud be

123
4993
45
5996
6943034
50

The first non nummerical can be anything (a-z, A-Z, all !@#$+ etc.)

Does any one know how to do this in a plain SQL statement. Thanks a bunch,

Toin.
