SQL Plus Login

I am a new user, and I have just downloaded a free copy of Oracle 9i. However, I cannot access SQL Plus.

The following were requested:

a) Username
b) Password
c) Host String

I entered my OTN and 9iUsername passwords which it appears not to recognise. I have no idea what the Host String is.
