SQL Developer startup issue because it tries to find a network share

Erik van RoonSep 2 2025

Hi, I'm away from home at the moment, so obviously My current drive mappings to my shares on the private NAS at home don't work.
But now when I start sql developer it shows a popup window with message (translated from Dutch, not sure what the exact wording would be on an English machine):
“An error occurred while trying to reestablish a connection between X: and \\Bitbucket\Document. Microsoft Windows Network: Can't find the network path. This connection has not been restored”.

I know this is a windows message, not a SQL Dev message, but it only occurs when starting up SQL Dev.
I can close it by clicking ‘Ok’ but it only comes back after some seconds.
All the while the lower right corner of SQL Dev is doing the “Cylon-thing”.

This is version 24.3.1.347.1826 on windows 11.
I've tried to start fresh without settings.
I tried trowing away SQL Dev and ‘installing’ it again, Choosing to NOT use settings of older version.
I tried going back to a previous version (23.1.1).

Nothing changed the behaviour.

I have no clue whatsoever why a fresh install of SQL Dev with only out-of-the-box settings could feel the need to access any of my drive mappings.

Anybody know how to make SQL Dev work again, short of getting rid of all my drive-mappings?
Heeeeeeeelllllllpppppp!
(Thanks in advance)
