SQL Developer does not seem to work

Hi All,

I have downloaded Oracle 11g XE and SQL Developer 4.1.3.20. I started SQL Developer and created a connection for SYSTEM schema. Now I opened a new SQL file and wrote a query SELECT 1 FROM DUAL; I am not able to see any output. Ctrl+enter is not working. Run Statement button is also not working. When I try to expand SYSTEM user in connections tab, it just doesn't work. I am really not able to track actual problem. Please help me out.
