SQL Developer Connection Timeout Hang

Hi,

I am using SQL Developer 4.1.3.20 on MAC OS X 10.11.6 and when I open database connections it is fine and as soon as I try to open tables I get the Columns tab as expected but as soon as I click Data to view the table I get "Connection is currently busy. Try again?". I doesnt happen to all tables just specific ones and they are not even the biggest tables in the database. At this point all I can do is force quit SQL Developer because try again just keeps me in a loop of getting this error message and abort just makes SQL Developer hang.

I have looked around google but noone else appear to have this issue and noone else in my office has this problem either.

Please could someone advise on possible fixes to prevent this from happening.
