SQL Developer 23.1 not connecting anymore to MySQL

After upgrading my SQL*Developer form “Version 22.2.1.234 Build 234.1810” to “Version 23.1.0.097.1607 - April 19, 2023” and using the MySQL connector jlib “mysql-connector-java-5.1.49.jar” I cannot connect anymore to MySQL MariaDB.

The UI shows an error message that connection is not allowed.

Any ideas on how to correct this or anyone else have this issue?

Glad to provide any logfile but I don't know what to provide.
