SPOOL Command in PL/SQL developer

Hi,
Iam executing below command in PL/SQL Developer7.0


SPOOL 'U:/MyFiles/test.txt';

select sysdate from dual;

spool off;

Iam getting ORA-00900: Invalid SQL Statement. Please let me know what is the exact syntax for SPOOL in PL/SQL Developer.
