Hi all, I think I might have made a mistake (or learning opportunity). We have a Spacewalk 2.1 Server that used to received RHEL subscriptions to RHEL 6 (Our subscription to RHEL lapsed). We purchased a Oracle Linux subscription with the hopes of allowing our current RHEL 6 hosts to obtain updates.
To facilitate this I added a Oracle Linux 6 public repo in our current spacewalk server (2.1), created a ULN child channel under the existing RHEL 6 base channel. The goal was to get updates to the existing RHEL 6 clients that already belong to the old spacewalk server without having them re-register with a new spacewalk server.
So my channel structure looks like this:
-RHEL 6 Base Channel
--Oracle Linux child channel (tied to a Oracle Linux 6 Public Repo)
--RHEL Core
--RHEL Stable
--....the rest--not relevant
Now the issue I'm having. When I completed the repo sync and completed a yum update from a client there were errors. So without getting into the weeds of all the errors because I suspect the problem existing at a higher conceptual level. Is what I did with the channels even possible? Can ULN and RHEL channels co-mingle in this way?
If not, what would be the best way to fix the channel structure?
Thanks in advance!
