Some questions about Apex

Hello to everyone,

I'm a new developer on Apex and I'm trying to figure out some points.

Right now I have to work in an environment that has installed Apex 3.2.0 (only installed, no application developed) , db "Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production".

Is it possible to upgrade from 3.2.0 to 5.0.X? The upgrade, is it without any kind of risks for the others applications?
A colleague told me about the existence in the past of a dedicated VM, named "BI Appliance VM Oracle Apex" or something like that. But we didn't find anything about it. Do you know it or knows something similar?
In this link, Oracle Application Express - Deployment, I read about the Web listener options. Since I have to migrate only Apex (the db version will remain the same), which options do you suggest?
