SOLVED: Updating the Informatica Domain and Node General Properties

597043Jul 21 2009 — edited Jun 6 2011
Hi there,

I have successfully installed Informatica PowerCenter8.6.0 + HotFix 4.0 Services on a Linux RHEL 64-bit server as part of an Oracle BI Apps 7.9.6 install.

However, I have realised that the Host Name defined in the Node General Properties is not the fully qualified server name.

I thought I'd be able shut the Informatica services down, then update the $INFA_HOME/server/config/nodemeta.xml file with the fully qualified name and then see that change migrate through to the Administration Console when I restarted the Informatica services again.

It didn't quite work out that way and the Host Name remained the same.

Has anyone any suggestions how I can update this. Here are a the steps I have taken to try and resolve this are:

I currently have one Domain and one Node. When I try and Remove host name / port in the Administration Console I get a message saying:

The node must be shutdown before the physical affinity can be unassociated. Please shutdown the node and try again.

But since I have only one Node when I try and shut it down I get the message:

The node can only be restarted from the host machine. Contact the administrator of that machine.

The node NodeDev01_syd-finance-devtest-apps-01 is the only node that is a gateway in this domain. Shutting it down will shut down the domain and prevent access to the Administration Console.

This causing me problems when I try and connect to the Domain using the Informatica Workflow Manager. After following the steps in "Logging Into Informatica PowerCenter Workflow Manager" on my client machine I get the error:

*[PCSF_46002] Failed to communicate with the server at [http://syd_finance-devtest-apps-01:6003/coreservices/DomainService]*

However if I put the URL http://syd_finance-devtest-apps-01.navitas.local:6003/coreservices/DomainService (uses fully qualified server name)

I receive the following message:

/coreservices/AlertService : enabled /coreservices/AuthenticationService : initialized /coreservices/AuthorizationService : enabled /coreservices/DomainConfigurationService : enabled /coreservices/DomainService : [DOM_10004] Domain service is currently master gateway node and enabled. /coreservices/DomainService/InitTime : Tue Jul 21 10:58:53 CDT 2009 /coreservices/LicensingService : enabled /coreservices/LogService : enabled /coreservices/LogServiceAgent : initialized /coreservices/NodeConfigurationService : enabled

Which I'm sure is what I want to receive.

Any suggestions greatly received?

Kind Regards,
Gary.
