Solaris 9 NFS application issues

Having a strange problem with Solaris 9 NFS. I have posted a call to SUN but thought someone may have come across a similiar issue.

Installed a V890 solaris 9 NIS+ server to replace a solaris 2.6 NIS+ server.
Swapped clients over to the new server and from a solaris perspective the server shared directories work fine. However some engineering applications such as CADDS5 and Patran which use the server shares as user file storage are hanging when accessing the shares. Both applications actually create the expected directory structures when activating a new job, but then hang with no error messages.

Any similar experiences would be helpful
