Solaris 8 Install on a Toshiba Laptop... HELP :)
807559Oct 7 2001 — edited Oct 8 2001I am installing a multi boot. I followed the instructions partitions etc. Everytime I install Solaris 8 on a fresh partition I am receiving the following;
The / file system (/dev/rdisk/c1d0s0) is being checked
Can't stack /dev/rdsk/c1d0s0
/dev/rdsk/c1d0s0: CAN'T Check File System
/dev/rdsk/c1d0s0: Unexpected Inconsistency; Run fsck Manually
Warning - unable to repair the / filesystem. Run fsck
manually (fsck -F ufs /dev/rdsk/c1d0s0). Exit the shell when done to continue the boot process.
Type control-d to proceed with normal starting
(or give root password)
* I entered the root pw ans performed the required manual actrion and got the following
Can't stat /dev/rdsk/c1d0s0
when skipped I get:
mount: /dev/dsk/c1d0s0 or /, no such file or directory

(or give root pw - which wont do me any good since I do not know the probelm.. so I hit control-d)

Everything else loops, this is the 8th time I have tried this initial installation in multiple combination of paritions and setups. Same exact message....
