hello!
i recently got a pretty old system..
a Sun Enterprise 250.
-2x 400mhz ultrasparc II
-1024mb ram
-1x 50GB SCSI drive
-vga framebuffer
-added pci USB card
-added voodoo2 3dfx
first, i installed a Debian Lenny for Sparc, and it all worked like a charm, even the voodoo worked (unexpected)
Then i got hold on some brand new solaris 7 5/99 cd's
i never worked with solaris before, so to me, this would be a great opportunity to gain some experience..
so i booted the cdrom (after finally finding the correct boot cd)
booting from cd worked just fine, i entered my network settings..
had some issues with dns, but network can be fixed afterwards..
then i have to make partitions, so i let my solaris auto-create partitions on the hard drive..
everything goes just fine.. until i push the "install" button after creating the installation profile..
i get the error "Could not update disks with new configuration"
solaris install console output:
Preparing system for Solaris install
Configuring disk (c0t0d0)
- Creating Solaris disk label (VTOC)
Creating and checking UFS file systems
- Creating / (c0t0d0s0)
ERROR: File system creation failed for / (c0t0d0s0)
ERROR: Could not check or create system critical file systems
ERROR: Could not update disks with new configuration
and installation failed...
i am absolutely clueless about what could be wrong, as this hardware setup works just fine with debian..
any ideas? google'ing on it didnt gave me great results, searching here was kinda without success too
any help will be very welcome..
Thanks in advance,
