Solaris 11 poweroff doesn't work on Dell 755

913199Jul 16 2012 — edited Jul 31 2012
Hi.

I've just installed Solaris 11 on a Dell 755 SFF PC (Intel Q6600 CPU, 4 GB memory).

My issue is that when I shutdown ("shutdown -y -i5 -g0") or when I issue the "poweroff" command, the system doesn't power off once shutdown is complete (the last message is the expected "syncing file systems... done", but then it just sits there), and I have to press and hold the power button to switch it off.

I have a number of these machines running Windows & Linux, so I'm pretty sure it's a Solaris thing.

I'm hoping that somebody might be able to advise on this - is it a known issue, is there a fix/workaround, etc.?

Thanks!
Paul
