Solaris 11 Early Adopter problems in vmware

user7548506Sep 26 2011 — edited Sep 27 2011
Hi

I thought I'd try to install 11EA in a VM to test it before installing on real hardware but ran into some problems:

1) the first attempt hung during boot after asking for language/keyboard. The last thing it said was "Hostname: dhcp58". I had to reboot.

2) the second attempt I answered exactly the same and it got a bit further then gave errors
svc:/network/location: method or service exit timed out. killing contract 61.
method /lib/svc/method/net-loc refresh failed due to KILL
It said that twice then transitioned to maintenance mode.
SMF msg id: SMF-8000-YX
I should point out that the network is the bridged VM adapter and the dhcp server works fine for all other dhcp clients.

3) Eventually I got the desktop from where I ran the installer with no problems. At the end I clicked 'Reboot' but it won't boot now:
WARNING: exec(/usr/sbin/init) failed (file not found).
(unix: Could not start init)
