Solaris 11.4 x86 live usb fails to boot - grub error couldn't terminate EFI services

Hi,

I am seeking assistance with a GRUB error while trying to install Solaris 11.4 x86.

I booted my pc from the USB stick with the Solaris 11.4 usb text installer on it. and got the following

Loading hd0,msdos2,sunpc1/platform/i86pc/kernel/amd64/unix: 0%...done.

Loading hd0,msdos2,sunpc1/platform/i86pc/amd64/boot_archive: 0%...28%...42%...56%...70%...84%...98%...done.

error: couldn't terminate EFI services.

Failed to boot both default and fallback entries

Press any key to continue...

Then the < GNU GRUB version 1.99, 11.4.0.0.1.15.0 > menu displays

Oracle Solaris 11.4

Oracle Solaris 11.4 ttya

Oracle Solaris 11.4 ttyb

Entry [Boot from Hard Disk] not supported on this firmware.

Selecting any of these entries fails to load the Solaris 11.4 live usb image from the usb stick.

I am using a Dell Inspiron 3670 with the latest bios  (1.5.7)

I followed the suggestions in this article from Dell to

"Ensure the BIOS is set to UEFI, disable Legacy option ROMS and disable the secure boot."

https://www.dell.com/support/article/nz/en/nzbsd1/sln301754/how-to-install-ubuntu-and-windows-8-or-10-as-a-dual-boot-on-…

The bios option screens are shown in the dell article under the heading "Things to know and check before you start an install"

They are grey screenshots, with red highlighting around each option.

I have followed these suggestions, but still cannot get grub to load Solaris 11.4 from the usb.

I know the USB image is ok, because I have an earlier Dell Inspiron 560 running Solaris 11.3 x86.

If I use the same USB stick (on the older Dell Inspiron 560) the bootup looks like this.

Loading hd0,msdos2,sunpc1/platform/i86pc/kernel/amd64/unix: 0%...done.

Loading hd0,msdos2,sunpc1/platform/i86pc/amd64/boot_archive: 0%...28%...42%...56%...70%...84%...98%...done.

Remounting root read/write

etc

Does anyone know what is causing the grub message

error: couldn't terminate EFI services.
