Solaris 10 x86 GA install failure on HP Proliant 8500R
807559Feb 22 2005 — edited Apr 21 2006Tried to install Solaris 10 x86 GA onto a HP Proliant 8500R, with 2GB memory, and a Raid 5 logical driver (three 18GB disks).
It booted from the CD 1, found all other devices except the hard drive(s), which led to the failure of installation.
Tried format on the system, but it found no disks again.
I created a DU floppy with SP26163.exe from http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:rsgWPr0TC3QJ:h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/21538.html+hp.com+DU+solaris&hl=en, and went through the F4_Add Driver thing, during the install. But it doesn't help, although it complained about a "Resource Conflict" issue as below:
Bus Emulation
Determining bus types and gathering hardware configuration data...
Warning: Resource Conflict - both devices are added:
NON-ACPI device: ISY0060
Port: 3BC-3BF; IRQ: 7
ACPI device: ISY0060
Port: 3BC-3BF, 7BC-7BE; IRQ: 7; DMA:0
Aparently, the disks were not found by 10, although it works fine with RedHat Linux AS.
What might be wrong here, anyone knows?
Thanks a lot,
George
