Solaris 10 - thousands of file in /tmp with <userid>swup.trc.<random_6_character> format

I have an x-window/CDE session server and for just about every session I have a file created in /tmp with the format in the title. The contents are:

user is not registered
HOMEDIR=/home/<userid>/.softwareupdate/863b05ec
The Notification Application cannot run.
User is not running on the primary display
or is running remotely.

I'm trying to figure what is creating these. And how I can make it stop. Any help would be appreciated.
