Solaris 10 on Dell Inspiron 5100 WORTHLESS - Has Got Ethernet Working?

I've got the installation done and booted just fine on a Dell Inspiron 5100 notebook. The problem is that it can't discover the network. After digging through tons of documentation on Google it looks like I have all the appropriate /etc files configured properly..../etc/hosts /etc/resolve.conf, /etc/intet/netmasks, etc.....

ifconfig -a results only show the lo0: flags......inet info and no apparent active device driver EVEN THOUGH THE INSTALLATION SEEMED TO FIND THE ETHERNET DRIVER.........Has anyone got this working?????

Sun is supposed to be a networking company BUT CONFIGURING THEIR OPERATING SYSTEM TO DISCOVER A SIMPLE ETHERNET CONNECTION IS LIKE DOING PURE RESEARCH!!!!!
