Solaris 10 installation on Intel platform

807559Sep 15 2005 — edited Apr 7 2006
Hi Guys,

Please go easy on me as I am new to Solaris.

I am trying to install Solaris 10 on an intel based machine. I tried to run the first installation CD (with the option of Boot from CD-ROM), I am getting an error message:

Direct CDROM boot failed. Check the system BIOS to make sure that CDROM boot is enabled then retry the boot or reboot using the boot diskette.

This is what I have done so far:

I successfully downloaded iso image zip files and then unzipped the same. Then I burnt these files on CDs using Roxio Easy CD Creator. I used the option of bootable CD while burning.

There are four options for Bootable CD Type:
I) Floppy Disc Emulation (1.44 MB)
II) Floppy Disc Emulation (2.88 MB)
III) Hard Disc Emulation
IV) No Emulation

I have tried all the options but with no success.

Can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Ravi
