Solaris 10 installation failure
807559Oct 26 2005 — edited Dec 18 2006This is the first time im installing solaris, however, i've been using bsd and linux for many years, so im not that kinda newbie.
The problem is that I've downloaded the x86-version of the solaris 10 dvd and also compared the md5sums so that no errors could have occurred in the transfer.
I am able to boot the dvd on my amd athlon 3200-system, but after that all the fun ends.
Just after the line where it says; "Use is subject to license terms." theres alot of exactly the same error. The complete error says this:
"Requesting System Maintenance Mode"
"(See /lib/svc/share/README for more information.)"
"Console login service(s) cannot run"
"svc.startd: Could not exec() sulogin: No such file or directory"
I do not know in which order they come, because the screen is flooded with them, like 20 rows per second.
I've tried all the options (1,2,3 and 4) when the bootdisk gives the the four choices, but all of them gives the same error.
Is it possible that I've missed something essential like that solaris doesn't work on AMD Athlon-systems?
Thanks in advance! /G
