Solaris 10 home network web server access issue and Xsun v. Xorg?
807557Feb 19 2006 — edited Feb 20 2006I have two questions here.
[1] Xsun vs. Xorg:
--------------------------------
Hi! I recently had a power outage and had to start my Solaris 10 x86 system again. When I did so, all of a sudden, X server would not start anymore, giving me messages indicating that my kdmconfig configuration is not good. Very annoying, because I can't seem to get it to work even with the correct video, keyboard, mouse, monitor settings. I will try later today with Xorg, but have this question:
Question: What are the disadvantages to using Xorg vs. Xsun?
[2] What Network Setting am I missing?
------------------------------------------------------
Second, I did a sys-unconfig after the black out, because I thought that might clear up some issues I had been having with X server. But in that process, I had to set up my networking information. I have DHCP, so I set up the configuration for that. Now, I can access my Sun Web server within my internal network using the server's 192.168....etc address, but even with NAT setup with my Router, I cannot access the server - i.e. using my outside IP and routing to port 80 of 192.168.... I know I set up NAT with my router correctly, because I can access other servers I have.
Question: So, here my question is this: Where I know I have set up NAT on my Router (connecting to my Cable modem) , and where I know accessing the Web server works from within my network using the local address, is there some configuration I need to do on Solaris to be able to access the server from outside of my network?
thanks,
