Solaris 10 does not start X
807557Feb 7 2005 — edited Apr 25 2010Seems like a lot of people are having the same problem as i have , that X is not launched when booting up machine.
I have tried to install Solaris 4 times now. With different package setups, all setups using all packages in the chosen group.
All 4 times the installation has been successful, no errors during installation. it finds my ATI mobility card, mounse and keyboard are correct setup.
During the install the X test is successful with movement in mouse and an visible testimage at 1400x1050 pixels.
Still, when booting after installation the X is not starting (CDE or gnome).
When looking inside /usr/X/bin, /usr/X11/bin there is only two identical files: X and Xserver. It seems like i am missing packages, Xorg and so on.
What to do?
Is this something similar some one else has seen. Do i do anything wrong during setup/install???
Everything else works as it should, Network, FTP and so on, but not X.
This is run on AMD64, so the 64 bit version of solaris is started.
